Let’s face it—nobody’s perfect, especially when it comes to your beauty routine. Some nights, it truly feels impossible to wash your face before going to bed and some days you conveniently “forget” to put on sunscreen, but that’s okay! Like any other resolution, realistic and tangible goals increase your chances of actually following through with them. Below, we have some realistic beauty resolutions that can be incorporated into any beauty routine.
Exfoliate, Exfoliate, Exfoliate
The importance of exfoliation cannot be overstated. Removing dead skin cells on the surface of your skin not only stimulates cell turnover and unclogs pores, but allows skincare products to act more effectively. Keep an exfoliating scrub in the shower and pick a day or two to exfoliate during the week and make it a part of your routine. It takes a few extra seconds, and your skin will thank you.
Make Sunscreen Your Number One
If sunscreen isn’t already part of your daily routine, keeping it on hand might help to lead you in that direction. Even though you should be applying sunscreen every day, no one is perfect, and having it on hand for unexpectedly sunny days or long afternoons outside is great for peace of mind and reapplication.
Clean Your Brushes
We all know how important it is to wash your makeup brushes and sponges on a regular basis. We also know how unappealing this task is, from tediously washing each individual brush to waiting hours for them to dry. Spot cleaning your brushes with sprays or quick-drying cleansers are a quick-fix solution. If you’re like me, though, and insist on giving your brushes a deep, soapy clean, set a reminder to wash your brushes, perhaps on a Sunday night, so that you have clean brushes for the coming week.
Break Up With Your Makeup Every Night
For those long nights, and when sheer laziness strikes, it can be tempting to go to bed with a full face of makeup, resolving to do better in the morning. For these occasions, keep makeup wipes on hand near your bed, or your favorite no-rinse cleanser and some cotton rounds.
