Periods are definitely not our favorite part of life as a woman. With periods, come cramps and with cramps, comes sometimes excruciating pain. Of course, over-the-counter pain relievers are an option, but there are also natural ways to conquer your cramps.
1. Exercising can help your cramps and lighten the flow of your period. Exercising regularly can do wonders, not just for your appearance, but for your overall health and well-being. It is proven that exercise reduces cramps and lightens your period. The endorphins your body releases serves as a natural pain reliever. If you can’t exercise daily, try doing some sort of workout a couple times a week. Home workouts and running/walking count, too!
2. Applying heat. Heat soothes the pain of cramps dramatically. I suggest investing in a heating pad, which can be found at your local Walmart or Target. Don’t have a heating pad? No worries, you can use a warm bottle of water. Just use the warm bottle to massage your stomach and relieve your ache. You can also try a wet towel or rag with warm water and place it over your stomach.
3. Drink a cup of tea. Tea is great for so many things, including relieving cramps. Try a cup of soothing chamomile, cinnamon, ginger, or peppermint tea. Make sure that the tea is decaffeinated because caffeine has a tendency to make cramps worse.
4. Add some apple cider vinegar (AVC) to your water. The health benefits of ACV are seemingly endless. Adding 2-3 tablespoons of ACV to a bottle of water three times a day will lighten and relieve the pain of cramps.
