Spring is in full swing, with summer right on its heels. Other than the annoying pollen and the returning humidity, we’re stoked about laying out poolside and sipping on some tasty smoothies.
Smoothies are a great way to get all those greens and fruits into your diet, and they’re simple to put together. So before getting to that spring cleaning, you might want to try these spring detoxes.
Here are five smoothie recipes you have to make this season. (Note: all recipes make around 4 servings).
1. Papaya Coconut Smoothie
To make this tropical smoothie you’ll need the following:
• 20 oz of Papaya
• ¾ cup of Coconut milk
• 1 lime (to give it that zesty sting)
• 2 tablespoons of sugar (I recommend brown sugar)
• 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
Blend these all together in your blender and BAM, there you have your Papaya Coconut Smoothie ready for serving.
2. Avocado Pineapple Smoothie
This one goes out to all my fellow avocado lovers:
• 1 cup of water
• ½ of a peeled avocado
• 2 cups of spinach (gotta get those greens in there somehow)
• 2 cups of pineapple chunks
• 1 tablespoon of sugar (again, I recommend brown sugar)
Enjoy your green smoothie!
3. Cranberry Raspberry Smoothie
This pink smoothie is perfect for brunch/ picnic with the girls:
• 1 banana
• 1 cup of cranberries
• ½ cup of raspberries
• ½ of soymilk (or any milk of your preference)
• ½ cup of plain/raspberry yogurt
• 1 tablespoon of sugar
Add some ice in the blender to make this an even more refreshing drink!
4. Cucumber Pineapple Smoothie
Cucumbers are the perfect cleanse and they’re also the perfect smoothie ingredient:
• 1 cup of pineapple chunks
• 4-in piece of cucumber
• 1 cup of pineapple juice
Add some kale leaves to make this smoothie ever greener.
5. Momma’s homemade Papanaberry Smoothie
I saved the best for last. Smoothies are a big part of my family’s weekend breakfasts. My mom tries making a different smoothie every weekend, but her Papanaberry smoothie stays winning over my heart, and stomach.
Papanapple is a mix of papaya, banana, and strawberry. In my opinion, there seriously has never been such a better combination of fruits.
What you’ll need:
• 1 banana
• 1 cup of papaya chunks
• 10 strawberries
• 2 tablespoons of sugar
• 1 ½ cups of milk
• Add a cup of ice cubes
Seriously, the best smoothie ever (totally unbiased).
Smoothies are great for a spring picnic or a gal pal reunion. You can always serve your smoothies in chic mason jars and add a little umbrella and funky straw to make it extra festive.
Happy Spring, everyone!
