We all have a beloved reality show that we’re a little reluctant to admit watching. They feature real people just like you, who somehow manage to end up on a semi-scripted show based on their everyday activities. Whether reality stars are complaining about their lives or going out of their way to get on camera, we usually find it hard to stop watching their antics.
There are a lot of hidden gems in the reality genre that have yet to reach Kardashian levels, but are worth the watch for any seasoned reality fan. Here are seven of our favorites:
1. Chrisley Knows Best
Todd Chrisley is you typical loving dad. He’s overprotective of his kids and only wants what’s best for them. That’s why he follows his teenage daughter on dates and gives his teenage son serious talks about things like money, relationships and jobs. Of course, when dad starts to get sassy, his kids throw it right back at him.
2. Married at First Sight
Couples take a leap of faith in this show when they sign up to marry a complete stranger four specialists have selected for them. After the nuptials, they must try to figure out how to do everyday things, like grocery shopping and buying a house with someone they barely know.
This E! series follows plastic surgeons Paul Nassif and Terry Dubrow as they meet with patients who’ve suffered surgery mishaps. From a tummy tuck that didn’t go as planned, to a failed nose job, the doctors make it their goal to fix things the best they can.
4. My Big Fat Fabulous Life
After being diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome, a hormonal disorder, Whitney Thore gained more than 200 pounds in one year at college. Fabulous Life follows her journey as she teaches dance classes for plus-size women and learns to embrace her body.
5. Face Off
This Syfy show follows a group of prosthetic makeup artist contestants as they compete to make prosthetics for models like ones found in science fiction and horror movies. The catch is that award-winning Hollywood makeup artists judge their work.
6. My Crazy Obsession
You won’t be able to turn away from this show about people who become so obsessed with an object that they fill up their entire home with it. Individuals featured on the series have been obsessed with everything from stuffed animals and Troll Dolls to Ketchup and Mustard.
7. Rich Kids of Beverly Hills
Another E! series that follows the lives of “rich kids” that live in the famous 90210 ZIP. As you can guess, the cast of the show all comes from wealth, but they’re trying to branch out on their own without their parents. Everyone can relate to that.
