So, let’s talk about last night’s explosive episode and what’s going to happen when Pretty Little Liars returns.
After 5 ½ seasons of waiting for answers (and at times thinking we’d finally gotten them), we finally know who “A” is on Pretty Little Liars.
We’ve been following the Charles Dilaurentis storyline since the end of season 5. Through the “Summer of Answers,” aka the first half of season 6, we’ve found out a lot about Charles. We know he was brother to Alison and Jason, but sent away from his family at a very young age after he tried to drown his sister. He was believed to be dead until Mr. Dilaurentis decided to dig up his grave and found nothing was there. Although, we had a good bit of back story, we never really knew what he looked like.
Well, he looks like CeCe Drake, who’s now a “she.” To make a long story (a really long story) short, she was put in Radley Sanitarium after a misunderstanding when Alison was a baby, but CeCe thinks it was because her father couldn’t accept she was transgender. After a life of loneliness and disappointment, Mona’s drug-induced stories of Alison and her friends become CeCe’s obsession. She enlists Sara Harvey to help her with the game and serve as a decoy, as CeCe tries to “protect” Alison. (I was in the majority of people who did not see that coming at all.)
Now that she’s presumably getting the help she needs for her fixation, we’re jumping five years into the future. In the short glimpse we got on Tuesday night, fans already know some mysterious “he” is coming for Alison. Piecing together moments from the winter season trailer, which you can view below, and inside scoops from showrunners, we’ve found out some things we can expect when Pretty Little Liars returns.
1. Alison is a married woman and a high school teacher.
Alison’s done a lot of growing up in the past five years. Sasha Pieterse, who plays the complex character, said the former Miss Dilaurentis has reinvented herself.
“I think just her demeanor is so different in what she’s going through now. I think it’s a really cool change for her,” Pieterse told Hollywood Life. “It’s really fun for me because I get to play something totally different.”
When I saw Alison writing “Mrs. Rollins” on the chalkboard I immediately tried to remember Lorenzo’s last name. Unfortunately, it’s Calderon.
According to E! News, Dr. Rollins is a psychologist, who’ll be sticking around for a bit. A quick search of IMDB revealed he’ll be played by Huw Collins. He doesn’t have much acting experience, but the guy can definitely wear a suit.
2. Hanna’s got a pretty nice rock on “that” finger.
Presumably, Hanna’s getting married to Caleb. You can see a glimpse of her showing off an engagement ring to Emily. Of course, they could be married, but unless the couple eloped, I can’t imagine a scenario when the Liars wouldn’t be invited to the wedding. (That would mean they’d already seen the ring.)
There’s also some speculation she’s pregnant, but it could just be the peplum top. Judge for yourself.
3. There are two more new recurring male characters.
Dr. Rollins isn’t the only new guy in town. TVLine reports there are also a couple of other guys coming in the winter season:
TVLine has learned exclusively that two male characters will recur in the second half of Season 6: Jordan, a sophisticated-yet-approachable 27-year-old working in the fashion industry, and Liam, a 24-year-old editorial assistant from Boston.
We’re guessing Jordan works with Hanna in the fashion industry, since that’s always been her dream, and Liam works with Aria in publishing. You can see Aria in the Season 6B trailer sitting at a desk with what looks like manuscripts in front of her.
4. Ezra has a goatee now.
We’re entering the age of a semi-lumbersexual Ezra. Does he chop wood in his cabin? Will he throw Aria over his shoulder and carry her everywhere? Only time will tell.
Also, it looks like Ezra and Aria are back on!
I have seen some unconfirmed rumors that he’s now a novelist, having written one novel and is now working on another. I wonder if he finally did write that book about Alison?
5. Mrs. Hastings is running for office.
Despite basically breaking into Alison’s home with the other moms and then putting her fingerprints on everything, Veronica must not have served any jail time. You can see signs at a rally for her campaign in the background of the trailer. Unfortunately, you can’t tell what she’s running for.
Veronica Hastings for President? We could see that.
6. Sara Harvey is making a comeback.
In the trailer, you get a glimpse of a character who looks a lot like Sara. While we know she went to the hospital for some reason (maybe for mental health issues), it seemed like she was never charged for her role in CeCe’s game.
If someone else takes of the game, we wouldn’t be surprised to find out Sara was involved somehow.
7. Someone’s after Alison and everyone returns to rescue her.
I’ll go ahead and put my prediction in the hat. After some thought, I think the new threat is Detective Wilden. We’ve thought at least three people were dead on the show before (Alison, Mona, Charles), so it’s not too far-fetched for him to be alive.
Sara’s always seemed shady to me, so I wouldn’t be surprised if she was on his side the entire time and lied to CeCe about him definitely being dead.
Watch the trailer and see if you can find more clues. (Comment if you do and let’s start speculating!)
Who do you think the mysterious “he” is?
