The amount of love songs out in the universe is beyond comprehension, but you still gotta get down to the love jams during this season of love. What should you listen to, though?
We think February is the month to listen to the most pop-tastic pop songs. We narrowed the list down to the five most poppy–and humorous–90s love songs for Valentine’s Day.
From the classic pop song to the swoon-worthy love ballad, take a listen to these 90’s hits for your romantic 14th.
Britney Spears–Born to Make You Happy
Oh boy, what is there NOT to like about this Britney love song? The humming, the fact that she’s declaring her life is devoted to making you happy on her first album or that AMAZING eye mak- up that matches her blue wardrobe and set design. You will be spending Valentine’s Day either dancing the night away, making angry faces at your ex-flame in the mirror or in bed dreaming of that pillow fight you wanna have with Channing Tatum…oh, sorry, is that just me?
Backstreet Boys–Shape Of My Heart
Talk about 90’s amazing-ness. OK, so technically this song is from the turn of the century, but you know the Boys spent 1999 writing songs like this one. Who hasn’t been with a boybander, or any person, who kept you in the dark about who they truly are? That obsession with video games, never offering gum as they take a piece out for themselves, or maybe the shape of their heart was way out there? In any case, this song is for all of those who have opened their hearts for the shape of another person’s heart.
Boyz II Men–I’ll Make Love To You
We have found the song you will be have on repeat all V-Day long. A love ballad that will make you swoon, I’ll Make Love To You will have your date stepping up their game. Who doesn’t want a group of beautiful men telling you they will make love to you how and when you want to. Talk about thoughtfulness.
‘N Sync–This I Promise You
Here’s another group of boys making all sorts of promises to you. They sure talk a big game, claiming until they die they promise to hold us right where we belong. OK, then. What is hilarious and 90’s magic about this video are the close ups of the boybanders’ faces. We also have to talk about the SWEATERS and why they are hanging out in what looks like the Sequoia National Park. But the most pressing issue here is that at their sing-and-dine lunch, JT is drinking a milkshake. Milkshake. Oh, 90s goodness.
Mariah Carey–Without You (Live)
Ms. Carey belts out this love ballad of the 1990s live, and we are not disappointed. For those of you who will be spending V-Day alone, Mariah is right there with you. Whether you cannot live without your love or are having a great Valentine’s Day solo, you can sing along with Mariah Carey throughout your holiday.
