The mystery of what happened to Mr. Turner is finally solved.
In the season 4 episode of Boy Meets World “Cult Fiction,” Mr. Turner was involved in a serious motorcycle accident. It was one of the most tense arcs in the show, with Shawn hoping to get Mr. Turner to wake up by making a tearful to plea to the unconscious teacher, but we never got a resolution. Although Minkus makes a reference to Mr. Turner in the episode “Graduation,” as part of a joke about how the two characters all but disappeared, we don’t know what happened to the beloved teacher.
When a new motorcycle riding, rule breaking teacher on Girl Meets World creates some waves at the school where Corey teaches (and his daughter, Riley is a student), Mr. Turner shows up to figure things out. Here are five things we found out during his return to the BMW/GMW universe:
1. He married the nurse who treated him in the hospital.
We don’t find out if he has any children of his own, but being a teacher for so long he’s helped raise thousands of kids.
2. He became the superintendent of schools in New York and even hired Cory.
It seems out of character for Mr. Turner to be “the man,” but if he’s probably inspiring teachers to be more creative in their lessons. Comic books may now be a required part of the teaching curriculum.
With mentors like Mr. Turner and Mr. Feeny, who are also basically his family, it’s no wonder Cory’s students seem to enjoy his class.
3. He comes over to Cory and Topanga’s house so much that their kids call him “Uncle John.”
Uncle John is a regular at the Matthews family dinner table. That little fact gives us so many happy feelings.
4. Shawn still holds a special place in his heart.
Alright, it’s time for a Shawn and Mr. Turner reunion, GMW writers. You get them to film an episode and we’ll bring the tissues. (Please make it better than that ill-fated Shawn and Angela reunion.)
5. Topanga Lawrence-Matthews never forgets.
