Wearing lipstick can be a lot of fun, and is a great and relatively simple way to complete a makeup look or bring it to the next level. What’s not so great are lipsticks that are uncomfortable to wear and require constant maintenance.
Below are tried-and-true lipsticks that are on your side and fit the bill: pigmented, long-lasting and comfortable to wear. There’s no need to check the mirror with these lippies (we know you look good).
Buy It: MAC lipstick in Lady Danger, $17
Classics are classic for a reason. MAC lipsticks are, and will always be, my go-to. They have great pigmentation, a variety of finishes, a signature scent and are relatively affordability for such a high-caliber product.
One of my favorite shades is Lady Danger, an orange-red that isn’t too orange and therefore flattering on a number of skin tones. Plus, it’s matte without being overly drying.
Buy It: Tom Ford Lips & Boys in James, $36
Like many of you out there, I was skeptical of Tom Ford lipsticks. A killer lipstick is great and all, but $53 great? Doubtful. I stumbled upon the Lips & Boys collection, which is not only more affordable, but actually cheaper ounce-wise if you crunch the numbers. One swipe of my first-ever Tom Ford lipstick and I was singing high praises like everyone else. If you’re looking for the ultimate indulgence in lipstick form, this is definitely a winner. It glides on almost as if it were a lip balm that’s long-lasting and rich in color and texture.
Buy It: Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil in Quince, $24
I’m a big fan of Bite as a brand. All of its products are handcrafted and contain natural and organic ingredients that are safe for human consumption (not that you should eat them, though!). The High Pigment Pencil works just as it suggests, providing a pigmented lip color with a matte finish that is easy to wear. Not to mention the pencil shape makes for easy application.
