There’s an unfortunate tendency to have conversations about certain groups without ever making them part of that conversation. That can cause us to unintentionally hurt people because we’ve been misinformed about their experiences.
How can we stop that? By including people with firsthand knowledge in the dialogue. (It’s something we’ve actually written about before.)
In a now viral video, cis women have candid conversations with transgender women about questions they’ve always had. Some queries include when they knew they identified as women, how they approach dating (along with how potential suitors treat them) and the concept of “passing.”
