Now you can join the likes of Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and First Lady Michelle Obama, with your very own Twitter verification check mark.
This week, Twitter announced they’d be accepting verification requests from the general public; meaning anyone and everyone is eligible to apply. Unfortunately, not everyone is guaranteed a blue mark. Twitter reviews each and every application and will only approve the ones they deem worthy. That being said, don’t worry too much if you’re denied a mark, since you’re allowed to resubmit your application 30 days later.
“We want to make it even easier for people to find creators and influencers on Twitter so it makes sense for us to let people apply for verification,” Tina Bhatnagar, Twitter’s vice president of user services, said in a statement. “We hope opening up this application process results in more people finding great, high-quality accounts to follow, and for these creators and influencers to connect with a broader audience.”
To apply, all you have to do is provide Twitter with a few things like your website, Twitter profile picture, header, and working phone number. In total, the application process takes less than 5 minutes to complete.
Keep in mind: you do need some type of leverage in your profession or to be notable enough to receive official verification.
Good luck on getting verified!
