As we look forward to what 2017 has in store, we look back at the best and biggest launches of last year that had everyone talking, furiously swatching and adding to their online (and real life) shopping bags.
Glossier Milk Jelly Cleanser
At the very beginning of this year, Glossier came out with its first-ever cleanser. Emily Weiss, founder and CEO of Into the Gloss and Glossier, asked the ITG community to describe their dream face wash, and from these suggestions, Milky Jelly Cleanser was born.
Described as the “ultimate daily face wash,” Milky Jelly Cleanser can be used on wet or dry skin and remove makeup. It’s great for all skin types and the rosewater used in the product is soothing and gives the product an amazing scent.

All Things Pat McGrath
Pat McGrath, makeup artist, design director of P&G Beauty, and deemed the most influential makeup artist in the world by Vogue, sends beauty lovers into a frenzy every time she releases a new product, which are always sold in a limited batch and gone far too soon.
This year saw the release of Skin Fetish 003, Lust 004, and Metamorphosis 005, and everyone lost their freaking minds — and for good reason, in my opinion. Skin Feitsh 003 had the ridiculously gorgeous highlighters that can only be described as “otherworldly opulence.” The metallic gold pigment in Lust 004 seemingly turned into liquid gold when mixed with the clear vinyl gloss and the metallic creams. Pigments of Metamorphosis 005 had instructions that read, “Beat that face to devastate from daytime to dance floor.”
Benefit Cosmetics Brow Collection
2016 was a big year for brows and brow products, and Benefit Cosmetics went the extra mile by completely relaunching its entire brow collection, which included new products and favorites with improved formulas and a wider color range.
New products included a setting gel called Ready, Set, Brow!, 3D BROWtones, an eyebrow enhancer, and BROWVO! Conditioning Primer for “fuller, healthier-looking brows.”
Dr. Brandt Skincare Magnetight Age-Defier
This “antiaging, iron-infused mask” went viral when it was first released. People were fascinated by the fact that the mask is removed using a magnet, because what could be more satisfying than that? The mask is said to harness “the power of attraction” to “visibly reduce fine lines and wrinkles,” “lift away impurities,” and “calm and illuminate dull, stressed skin.” The reviews on this product have been mixed, as for such a high price point, you need more than just novelty.
