We thought our Harry Potter reading days ended when we cried our way through the last pages of The Deathly Hallows. Thankfully, J.K. Rowling has definitely been in a giving mood lately.
First, she revealed details on several new wizarding schools. Now, she’s releasing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts I & II. It will be a published version of the rehearsal script that’s being used for the upcoming eponymous play.
Here’s a (vague but enticing) synopsis of the plotline, via Pottermore:
Readers and moviegoers last saw Harry waving off his children at Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, 19 years after the Battle of Hogwarts, in the epilogue to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child picks up after that moment and is staged in two parts, due to the ‘epic nature of the story’.
The scripted work is expected to hit bookstores and e-retailers sometime this summer, after the play premieres in London.
Do you think Books-A-Million will bring back their midnight release parties for the occasion? We’re down for a party with some grown-up HP fans.
