We all know how stressful the holidays can be no matter how much planning (or procrastinating) you do. In the frenzy to make sure your guests are happy, it’s important to remember to take time for yourself as well. Below are some of our best time-saving tips for busy beauty buffs this holiday season, so that you can spend less time frantically applying makeup at the last second and more time enjoying the company of your friends and family.
If you’re multitasking and pressed for time, it’s probably not the best opportunity to try and copy that intricate holiday-inspired makeup tutorial you bookmarked on YouTube for the first time. Instead, stick to what you know. If you don’t normally do detailed eyeshadow work, Kim K-level contouring or apply fake lashes, it’s best to leave experimentation for another day. To bring an everyday makeup look to the next level, consider a festive lip color. It only takes a few extra seconds and makes an immediate impact.
Set It (And Forget It)
Longevity is key, especially when you don’t have time for mirror checks or touch ups. To keep a fresh look that lasts all night long, you’re going to have to lay some groundwork in your initial application. Use a moisturizing primer before applying foundation, apply powder as necessary (I apply some around the eye area to keep eyeliner and mascara from smudging onto my face) and finish with setting spray.
Last But Not Least…
Smile! Confidence is key. Whether you had five minutes or five hours to put your look together, you are good to go. Relax, take a deep breath and know that everything will turn out alright. Better go check on that pumpkin pie!
