Ladies, there was an open casting call for someone willing to engage in a steamy make-out session with Benedict Cumberbatch and we missed it. Some actress named Reese Witherspoon landed the role of our dreams and we’ll never get that chance again. (We also missed the call to kiss Miles Teller and Chadwick Boseman, so we’re officially firing our agent.)
Because The New York Times can get away with practically anything (they’re the Jimmy Fallon of newspapers), they enlisted 18 of this year’s top-performing actors to kiss for the camera in a video series. Steve Carell, Rosario Dawson, Kristen Stewart and Julianne Moore are just a few of the celebrities featured. Not all of the actors locked lips on-screen, some just got a kiss on the cheek or hand in these short films. Don’t get your hopes up for any snappy dialogue or romantic monologues—no one says a word, which means they’re relying purely on facial expressions and body language.
Check out some of the videos below from NYT’s YouTube page and tell us which one is your favorite. We’re partial to the romantic kiss between Miles Teller and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.
