If there’s one thing we love more than books, it’s clothes. So, when our friends with Disney-Hyperion asked us to create a style board based on The World of Weir series, we had no hesitation. The five books in the series, written beautifully by Cinda Williams Chima, are about different magical guilds.
The blog tour is in celebration of the release of last book in the series, The Sorcerer Heir, on Oct. 21, which we devoured in a couple of days. It’s self-contained novel, meaning you can read it without reading the rest of the series, but why would you want to do that? We recommend starting from the beginning. (The giveaway featured at the end of this post will put the entire series at your fingertips.)
We’ve created a style inspiration board based on The Enchanter Heir, the fourth book in the series. Enchanters are not as powerful as wizards, but they make up for it their charm and ability to create emotions, like attraction and passion. They are also very cunning, often undetectable to Wizards. What we love most about them is that they work with what they’ve to get ahead. You don’t have to be in a high position of power to be powerful, and the enchanters definitely live up to that philosophy.
The guild is associated with the color purple, so we incorporated a lot of that in our style board. We think of it as their power color; the hue that makes them feel confident, so we wanted to use it liberally.
For eyeshadow, we went with Sephora’s Luster Matte in Night Owl ($13), which is a great complement to OPI’s Purple with a Purpose ($9.50). We definitely couldn’t pass up including a gold crossover skirt from Piperlime ($79), which we thought played on the attraction because it shows just enough of your curves to make anyone attracted to you curious. The little bit of bare midriff shown when wearing the purple crop top ($23) also works well to create an attraction and the deeper color conveys passion. Along with a good pair of pumps ($90), also from Piperlime, and Miss Dior “Blooming Bouquet” fragrance ($98), you’ll be ready to enchant the world.
Thanks to Disney-Hyperion, you can win the entire World of Weir Series: The Warrior Heir, The Wizard Heir, The Dragon Heir, The Enchanter Heir and The Sorcerer Heir. We’re giving the series away to one winner in the U.S. (Sorry, international Feather Girls!)
