These sweet-looking treats are actually made with sushi ingredients, not sugar and dough. Rice takes the place of the dough, the mayo is used as the “glaze” and the sesame seeds imitate sprinkles.
There are lots of variations of the sushi donut floating around the Internet. Even Whole Foods has joined the party, making their own rendition out of brown rice, avocado and salmon. For spice lovers, we’ve seen a couple of variations created just using wasabi.
